Antonia Lofaso
Chef Antonia Lofaso's culinary creations are an opportunity to explore the depths of her internal world. She became interested in food following her move from suburban Long Island to the diverse cultural landscape that is Los Angeles. Scopa Italian Roots, which Lofaso created in 2013 has been well-received since it was in the spirit of her Italian tradition. Lofaso's interpretation of old-school Italian is considered to be one of the most compelling eateries for Italian food in Los Angeles. Customers describe Scopa as an important neighbourhood staple, where Lofaso always offers food that is authentic and undeniably satiating. Lofaso worked under top chefs of note and was taught their latest techniques However, she was always willing to challenge her own intuitions. She quickly rose up through the ranks at Wolfgang Puck's Spago and then went on to transform various high-profile kitchens located in Los Angeles while working closely with many high-profile celebrities. Lofaso, Sal Aurora, and Mario Guddemi partnered to open Black Market Liquor Bar Studio City in 2011. Through Black Market and the business alliances she created, Lofaso was able to find an appropriate new home. It would provide the freedom of expression Lofaso was looking for. Black Market does not have any one specific direction, and that's what it is designed to do. It could begin with dill potato chips and toshito peppers. This is followed by lobster roll Korean wings and a succession of meatballs. Antonia serves as the center in this lavish array. Throughout her career Lofaso has judged her accomplishment through her ability to connect with her viewers while being true to her persona. Her work has appeared in of numerous television shows including Top Chef Chicago, Top Chef: All Stars as well as Cutthroat Kitchen Man vs. Child on The Food Network and ABC's Real O'neals. Her talents continue to be recognized as a judge for CNBC's Restaurant Startup. Lofaso has released her book, The Busy Mother's Cookbook 100 Easy and Delicious Recipes, in 2012, in collaboration with Penguin. The book also tells the tale of her struggles while she studied in an institution called the French Culinary Institute. She was raising her daughter Xea in addition.
